THE SOLUTION FOR UNEMPLOYED GRADUATES
•              Soft skills
Soft skill development should be inculcated into the education syllabus. It is important to teach soft skills required to survive and succeed in the work market. Such in UiTM they do the Program Kemahiran Insaniah to develop the soft skills among the students. This kind of program teaches the students how to communicate well with peoples, work in group, and build self-confident. All these elements is important to get job as the employers look for.
According to the Minister of Human Resources, more than 65% of female graduates in this country are employed because they lack social and communication skills in addition to a poor command of language and low levels of self confidence. He added that many female graduates had achieved excellent academic results but could not secure employment without the relevant skills required in the labor market. The number of unemployed female graduates is also much higher in comparison male graduates (The Star, 2005).
Soft skills are generally categorized into three areas; character, interpersonal skill and critical and creative thinking. These skills enable one to communicate effectively, manage relationships, lead a team, and solve problems. Soft skill development should be inculcated into the education syllabus. It is important to teach soft skills required to survive and succeed in the work market.
•              Experience
As a fresh graduate, who just turn from student life into real life, they should collect all the experiences and not to be choosy to get job. What are the most graduates thought that by having degree in their hands is enough to qualify them for a job. Generally, there is a trend that most organizations prefer to recruit those with experience. The work environment now requires graduates to have some work experience in addition to the requirement of graduation to ensure that employers sustain their economic competitiveness. In the current labor market, graduates not only need to compete among themselves, but also with other less educated candidates with years of work experiences.
•              Networking
Suppose that since in the student life students should start to wider their networking as this will give advantage to them to get job in future. Many people get jobs through referrals. Statistics show the majority of people get their jobs this way. The reason why word of mouth is so effective is because it cuts through all the worry of whether or not this person can do the job. If somebody has been working for a company for some time, then that employee knows what it takes to succeed, and if that employee knows somebody who can do it, it’s an easy fit. The employer will trust the employee referring the new candidate and the new candidate will most likely get the job. There’s just one catch thought. You have to be “worthy” of being referred. Remember that...

Why we choose this topic?????

We think this topic is a major problems among the graduate in Malaysia.Nowadays, we can see many graduates are jobless.Even they have a qualification in major course, but it does not enough to them to get a permanent work. It is because there are too many competition among them. That's why graduates must have a good skills to get a great job.The graduates also must have a different ability and capability. Besides that, the employer also too choosy. They only take the graduate who only have experience about 1 until 2 years only. So that, many graduate have jobless.

NEWS ABOUT UNEMPLOYMENT

what do you know about unemployment?
I'm am aggree with my friend, Amira Nadhirah said that unemployment as defined by the occurs when people  are without jobs and they have actively sought work within the past four weeks.

The unemployment rate in Malaysia was last reported at 3.1 percent in December of 2011. From 1998 until 2010, Malaysia's Unemployment Rate averaged 3.43 percent reaching an historical high of 4.50 percent in March of 1999 and a record low of 2.90 percent in March of 1998. The labour  force is defined as the number of people employed plus the number unemployed but seeking work. The non labour force includes those who are not looking for work, those who are institutionalised and those serving in the military. This page includes: Malaysia Unemployment Rate chart, historical data and news.

According to the findings of a Graduate Tracer Study in 2006, 30.7% of graduates remained unemployed six months after convocation, while 5.7% were still awaiting job placement. The study involved 132 900 graduates from 18 public universities, 18 polytechnics, 34 community colleges and 13 private institutions of higher learning from all over Malaysia. (New Strait Times, 2007)

THE CAUSE OF UNEMPLOYMENT AMONG STUDENTS
  • Firstly,  the incompatibility in the focus of higher education institutions and the needs of labor market. The reason for that is lack in compatibility as compared to the situation twenty years ago. In addition, there is an increase of competitiveness and volatility in the labor market. The work environment nowadays require graduates to have some work experiences in order to the requirement of qualified employee. Besides that, incompatibility in the knowledge acquired in higher education institution is one of the factor.
  • The second reason is lack of experiences and skills among the university graduates. Most of organizations today prefer to have graduates with experience to ensure the employers sustain their economic competitiveness. The number of unemployed female graduates is much higher in comparison male graduates. Moreover, those graduates with essential skills are more preferable compared to them who does not have any skills. They also should have proficiency in English. Other than that, university graduates have to possess their interpersonal skills in order to decrease the number of unemployment among them.
